A Local Hot Spot

Nestled in Bowie, Maryland, East Moon Asian Bistro has enhanced the dining options for local diners. Just as a rising moon lightens up the sky, a meal at East Moon can lighten up your day. Here, people can enjoy a variety of palatable Asian fusion dishes from Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese cuisine. This restaurant is a popular venue among residents of Bowie and other Maryland areas.

Opened in 2008, East Moon was not Eric Zhou’s first attempt at entering the restaurant business. Years ago, he opened a fast-food Chinese and Japanese restaurant in a shopping mall. Though the other restaurant has been successful till now, Zhou wanted to run a more upscale dining establishment. So he and his friends opened East Moon Asian Bistro, a dine-in and take-out restaurant.

“I want to try new things and prove that I am capable of doing this,” says Zhou. Courage is the driving force behind ambition, and it is obvious that Zhou and his friends’ boldness has resulted in his continuing success. When East Moon became one of the most popular restaurants among locals in Bowie, Zhou and his friends opened another East Moon restaurant in Alexandria, Virginia last year. The new restaurant quickly became a local favorite too. Actually, in America, Eric and his friends have opened eight restaurants in America, all of which are called East Moon Asian Bistro and have become local hot spots.

The four most essential components of a restaurant are its food quality, décor, cleanliness, and customer service. East Moon surpasses the standards of all of these four components. The quality of the food here is excellent. Some of the most popular, stand-out dishes on East Moon’s menu include: Chicken Satay, Edamame, Steamed Dumplings or Pot Stickers, Chicken in Crisp Lettuce Wraps, General Tso’s Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Hot & Spicy Scallops, Sea Bass, Basil Shrimp and all kinds of sushi and rolls. All of these dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients to guarantee outstanding quality and flavor.

When a dish arrives at the table, diners are impressed by its large portion and eye-catching presentation. Every dish reflects the artistic abilities of the chefs. Some dishes depict elegant color arrangements while others may come with charming visual accessories, such as snowmen, umbrellas or flowers. Some dishes demonstrate the shape of its name- for example, the Caterpillar Roll and Dragon Roll come in the shape of the caterpillar and dragon, respectively. Also feasts for the eyes are the cocktails from the bar, which come in vibrant colors. Above all, the prices here are quite reasonable. Once a customer takes his first bite of food, he will realize that his meal is worth every penny.

The fine dining experience at East Moon matches its modern and polished décor. The intertwining bamboo walls separate the areas of the bistro. The dimly-lit lights make the ambiance full of mystery and romance. The quiet and cozy environment is perfect for an intimate meal with friends and family. Diners can sink comfortably into the chairs and sofas. Because Zhou also makes sure his restaurant is cleaned twice a day, one will never find dust or oil dots on the tables or chairs.

Zhou considers good service to be the soul of his bistro. Therefore, his friendly and attentive staff members often leave a good impression on the customers. For example, the staff members help new customers order and offer recommendations to meet the customers’ needs. Staff members also know regular patrons by their names and are familiar with these patrons’ “usual dishes.” Therefore, customers feel like they’re home every time they dine at East Moon.

Do you want to have a dish named after you? At East Moon, where innovation is valued, quite a few customers have dishes named after them. Here’s how it works: If you want the chefs to prepare a dish not listed on the menu, the chefs can make it for you on the condition that you provide the recipe. If this new dish is well-received, it will be offered regularly at the restaurant and recommended to others. The new dish will also be named after you. Many sushi dishes have been named after customers at East Moon.

Zhou has never advertised his restaurant on the Internet, in newspapers, or on television. His customers know about East Moon through word of mouth. Zhou has won a lot of loyal customers by making their satisfaction a top priority. A recent review on the Internet from Gary G., one of the innumerable customers, goes like this: “Another outstanding meal.  I have been to East Moon many times since it opened, quality of service and food is not only as good, but improves.  Variety of dishes and styles is just impressive.  Will continue to frequent this restaurant and take out of town guests there.” There still are many good reviews like this, despite some false reviews. However, the loyal customers even came to the defense of the restaurant when some Internet reviewers made false statements about the business.

Zhou’s hard work has taken him very far. His desire to think of ways to enhance his restaurant and its offerings will most likely help East Moon Asian Bistro remain a star in the community.
