Z-Trim Lowers Trans Fats, Not Taste (1/2)

Z-Trim Lowers Trans Fats, Not Taste Food companies seeking to reflect a lower level of trans fatty acids in their products when the Food and Drug Administrations trans fat labeling deadline takes effect beginning January 1 are turning to Z-Trim as a healthy option. "We believe we have the right product at the right time," said Rick Harris, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for FiberGel, the subsidiary of Circle Group Holdings, Inc. that produces Z-Trim. "We help make the transition to reduced trans and saturated fats easier for producers of processed foods." Z-Trim, the natural corn fiber-based fat replacement gel, is known for its ability to reduce fats while not affecting taste in dairy products, dressings, dips, sauces, creams, baked goods, breading, coatings, powders, processed meats, snack foods, cookies, pies, cakes, icings, brownies, bars, ice cream, and drink mixes, etc. Its fat replacement credentials include the ability to reduce the amount of trans fats to levels some consumers, regulators and activists may consider tolerable. The FDA ruling, for example, does not require products containing less than .5 gram of trans fats per serving to list information on trans fat content on the nutritional label. Trans fats are bad for the heart because they boost bad cholesterol (LDL) levels and depress good cholesterol (HDL) levels in the blood. The use of Z-Trim to replace trans fats can doubly benefit cholesterol levels. "Z-Trim reduces dietary cholesterol in two ways," Harris said. "Its insoluble fiber that provides benefits similar to soluble fiber as it is digested, blocking the absorption of cholesterol into the blood stream." "Z-Trim can replace a sizable amount of trans fats and calories in recipes and formulations while adding the health benefit of dietary fiber to packaged foods, fast food items, and home recipes," he said. A product review conducted by 'Transfatfree for Healthy Living' and featured on their web site notes that although Z-Trim 'sounds to good to be true,' it confirms, based on tests conducted in their kitchens, that Z-Trim is, in fact, an 'ideal start' for those trying to reduce fats and calories in their diet. After incorporating Z-Trim into a commercial cake mix, the reviewers called the results 'very impressive' noting that participants in the test happily devoured it without guessing it was substantially lower in fat than the average cake, and noted no difference in taste or texture after replacing half of the butter with Z-Trim. In further tests, reviewers said they were "quite pleased" in tests that involved blending Z-Trim with high fat salad dressing. "In our own tests, as well as in studies done at a local university, taste and texture have not been compromised," Harris said. "In some instances, taste was actually enhanced when prepared with Z-Trim." "It’s a solution that is ready now, and interest is at an all-time high,” he said. "We’ve made Z-Trim available via our web site, www.Ztrim.com, and we’ve heard from hundreds of food companies in the past couple of weeks. We’re working with them to strike a balance that lets them reduce fats without reducing taste." About FIBERGEL TECHNOLOGIES INC. FiberGel owns the worldwide rights to Z-TRIM for all fields of use.
