Japan’s Most Honored Saké Now Available in the U.S.

Japan’s Most Honored Saké Now Available in the U.S. FOREST GROVE, OR – October 7, 2005 – American saké and wine enthusiasts can now sip the finest saké made in Japan without the twelve hour flight. Momokawa Brewing Japan’s (MBJ) premium sakés are now imported by SakéOne of Forest Grove, Oregon, the American saké brewery that MBJ helped establish more than ten years ago. MBJ has received gold medals for 56 years straight from the Nambu Toji Sakémaster Competition. This is the longest record of gold medals received from Japan’s most prestigious, challenging and largest saké competition which is held by the largest sakémaker clan in Japan. In addition to the awards on their products, MBJ’s sakémaster (Yoshio Koizumi) has just been awarded the lifetime achievement award by Japan’s leading association of industry, government and consumer groups placing Mr. Koizumi in the top five brewers, winemakers and distillers in all of Japan. “It is very much an honor for us to be importing such a fine selection of saké from MBJ,” commented Steve Boone, President and CEO of SakéOne. “They (MBJ) have helped us immensely through the years and now we have an opportunity to introduce them to our friends in America.” Located in the Aomori Prefecture of Northern Japan, MBJ has been making saké for more than two hundred years. Owned and operated by the Murai family for nearly two hundred years, MBJ continues to gain recognition as Japan’s most honored saké brewery with its growing collection of gold medals including international awards. Among the products imported are Momokawa’s Daiginjo (made with Yamadanishiki, the finest saké rice) and Momokawa’s Sugidama. Both of which have received “Best of Japan” honors in their class, limited production sakés like the highly prized Nebuta Genshu, a celebration saké bottled in a traditional Taru, and a premium Nigori Genshu which is roughly filtered. About SakéOne. SakéOne is the only American-owned and operated sakéry in world and has won more tasting competition awards than any other domestic sakéry.
